Apfel

My boyfriend's cellphone finally died after two years on July 4th when his friend pushed him, along with all of his belongings, into the pool. After torturing me by being without a phone for a week, he decided to upgrade to an iPhone! It's such a good thing to have too, considering we've been doing things the old school way by jotting down google maps directions. Makes it too easy to get lost. We didn't want to risk it on our roadtrip next month but now we don't have to! There's still a lot we have to figure out (like how to work the GPS properly) but I'm super excited.

I decided to make him a little pouch to keep the phone in so that it doesn't get scratched up. It doesn't offer as much protection as a hardshell case but I think it's pretty cute anyway. Maybe in the future I can attach the cloth to a clear case. I don't know. I like the burlap sack look the 14 ct beige aida gives.

This took me a little over 9 hours to complete, from drafting up the design to sewing up the sides. I chose the rainbow apple logo! This was partially because of the rug I found while exploring the Jackling House before it got torn down, and because it's MUCH cooler than the newer sleek logo.

(More about this particular exploration later.)

I didn't expect turning the logo into a cross-stitchable design to be so difficult. Maybe I'm just an amateur but there was a lot of erasing. Even after I stitched on what I though to be an accurate apple, I had to make a few adjustments. But now that it's done and I'm somewhat satisfied, I think I have a good pattern to add to my journal!
