My second trip to Salvation Mountain.
Leonard Knight wasn't there this time but I took some photos that I like to think do the place justice! For those who don't know, this place was featured in the move "Into The Wild". On his tour, Mr. Knight mentioned that because of the movie, the "bluebirds" were the most asked about part of the mountain.
I'm not a religious person but I can appreciate what he's done. I feel very fortunate to have met him (and given him a hug!).
The first time I went was with a group of friends at an event we called "The Salton Sea World Championship Fishing Tournament". (Which was really just a dozen of us sitting on the rocks waiting for something to bite. 8 hours...nothing.) I left a bit earlier to look for some mud volcanoes with three others but we gave up and ended up going to Salvation Mountain. When the rest of the group caught up, we drove through Slab City and ended in East Jesus to view the permanent outdoor art exhibit.
Please note: This picture sucks.
The pictures from the second trip are a whole lot better but I really missed that group of people...
